WHAT WILL YOU DO?
You will contribute to a wide range of projects involving land surveying, GIS mapping, remote sensing, and data analysis, helping deliver high-quality solutions to clients across various sectors.
JOB DUTIES
• Provides technical support in trouble shooting and developing technical solutions supporting GIS and Data Analytics technologies
• Supports services team members to leverage GIS and data technologies in spatial and non-spatial analysis
• Implements and performs Analysis, Modelling and Application development using industry leading spatial analysis software, modelling tools and techniques and software development tools
• Contributes to the design and implementation of data models, metadata, database creation, management, backup, data acquisition protocols, dissemination, documenting methodologies
• Process and analyze spatial data from various sources including field surveys, imagery, and GPS
• Maintains accuracy and reliability of spatial data and resulting analyzes
• Maintain organized files and documentation in accordance with company standards.
• Interpret sketches, specifications and field notes to produce accurate drawings
• Produces high-quality cartographic products, within reports to support reports including but not limited to, Environmental Assessment, Environmental Compliance Approvals, Annual Monitoring Reports, Environmental Impact Studies, and Geotechnical Investigations
• Perform field surveys using RTK GNSS equipment and Total Stations
• Set up and operate survey instruments with precision and efficiency
• Collect, process and verify spatial data
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
• Field work in all seasons, travel, and overtime may be required
• Manages daily tasks for multiple active projects with both short- and long-term timelines
• Able to provide operational and technical GIS support on a variety of projects
• Participate in project meetings and coordinate with team members to ensure efficient and timely delivery of project deliverables
• This role requires information to be kept confidential and/or for the technician to work with sensitive data regularly within their role
• Strain could come from the need to manage workload in an environment with multiple priorities that can change hourly and daily
• Responsible for personal health and safety and that of any person working on an assignment directly under their supervision
• 5 years of relevant experience working with ArcGIS Pro
• Relevant College Diploma or University Degree; related experience
• Proficient with GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS and similar Platforms
• Familiarity with scripting languages (eg. Python) is considered an asset
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and integration with GIS is considered an asset
• Surveying experience in various field scenarios and project types is considered an asset
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook) is essential
• Outstanding organisational and communications abilities
• Superior technical skills and attention to detail
• Good problem solver with ability to identify alternative solutions
• The ability to work with multiple people and prioritize tasks is a must
• The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Desire to succeed in a dynamic, progressive organization
• Works well independently as well as a part of a team
• Written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to communicate well with others and engage in technical conversations. The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellent communication skills with fluency (reading, writing and oral) in English.
• Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
