Job Summary
Reporting to the Active Living Supervisor, the Squash Convenor is accountable for overseeing the Squash program providing a safe and welcoming environment consisting of exceptional customer service, squash promotion and instruction to members and drop-in customers.
The Squash Convenor also has the opportunity to provide squash lessons in addition to scheduled hours.
Job Duties Include
- Court supervision, on-court demonstration and technique assistance/feedback, general interaction with members.
- General administrative tasks, emails, bulletin boards, member incentive support and preparations.
- Provide tours of the facilities for potential members.
- Equipment cleaning – racquets, goggles, operational checks.
- Monitoring of membership cards and pay-go customers – i.e., ensuring payment was received / membership cards are current.
- Educates the public on issues of squash and active lifestyles.
- Listens to feedback from customers and responds in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
- Prevents accidents through enforcement of facilities Code of Conduct rules and regulations.
- Monitors safety in the squash courts and address/reports safety concerns.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Administers First Aid in accordance with highest level of certification.
Qualifications/Skills
- College diploma in health and fitness related studies or experience, training and education deemed equivalent.
- Minimum of one year squash training experience.
- Extensive knowledge of squash play.
- Organization, time management and planning skills.
- Self-motivated, positive, confident, and approachable.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Respectful of diverse opinions and perspectives.
- Committed to quality customer service and innovation to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- An energetic personality and a passion to motivate others to live an active lifestyle.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C Certification.
- Able to provide a clear Criminal Reference Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search that is current (completed within the last 6 months), upon hire.
What is Offered to Staff
- Rate of Pay: $19.71 - $21.42 per hour.
- Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works up to 24 hours per week. The hours of work may vary Monday to Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
